The vision for Disbe Good™ began with founder Joshua Godson at age 18 while studying at Liberty University. He noticed that international students, especially from Africa and the Caribbean, longed for authentic street food that reminded them of home. Inspired to solve this problem, Joshua obsessively researched and perfected Jerk Chicken using authentic charcoal grilling techniques.
Despite financial struggles, he creatively used his college book vouchers to buy supplies and launched his food venture at a tailgate event—making $650 that day. Encouraged by the response, he continued selling during the 2008 football season, eventually earning nearly $7,000 and becoming known as the “Jamaican in town.”
Disbe® became a beloved provider of nostalgic street food on campus and in the local community.
